Why Everyone Needs TCM

Last Friday, Friday the 13th, was the inaugural "episode" of TCM Underground, a "series" hosted by Rob Zombie that explores the "wild and weird world of midnight movies & cult classics."

They opened with an Ed Wood double bill - Plan 9 From Outer Space and Bride of the Monster - and will continue this week with Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!

Friday nights are going to be VERY interesting.

Oh, as an FYI for Clo. . .on Tuesday, October 24th, Augusten Burroughs will be a "guest programmer."

The Departed

Ok, I never thought I'd say it... Leo and Matt made a damn good movie together. It didn't hurt that Jack, Martin, Alec, and our favorite Boogie Nighter, Marky Mark were in it. It was throwback Scorsese, a nice little reminder that he made another great movie called Goodfellas.

The only thing that took away from a great Irish Mob movie was the chattering of little children behind me. (Why do parents think it's ok for six year olds to watch these movies?)

It's not for the faint of heart, but it's rocking. A definite recommend.
